UPS and Daycare

A short employment update:

I'm currently working two part-time jobs. For the next week or so I'm working at UPS as a "Driver Helper." That basically means that I take packages from the little brown truck to your door.

I'm also continuing to do janitorial work at a daycare in the evenings.

Neither of these positions is glamorous by the world's standards, but I'm thankful to the Lord for them. Neither pays very much, so I'm still looking for a more stable position.

I appreciate your prayer about this. I know that I did the right thing in resigning from my salaried pastoral position (I'm not saying that all pastors must do this; rather, as a matter of conscience I had to). I also know that God provides and expects me to work.

Please pray for patience and faith on my part. Please pray for my family.

Please pray that God will provide in His perfect timing.

Thank you.

BTW - my blogging frequency will likely drop over the next few weeks because of these two jobs.

Eric,

I feel your pain, although probably not as "painfully" as you. I'm having to work two jobs to support my family as well. I'm praying for another job also, but trusting God through this time.

Hang in there.

Alan,

Thank you. It is tough, but it is also nice to be doing work that I don't have to feel conflicted about. My body hurts a little, but it's a good hurt as well.

I'll pray for you, too.

All work is worship when all work is done for Christ, not men. All work is "the work of the Lord" and is "not in vain in the Lord". Do you know the references on these?

When I decided I would never again seek a hired pastor position, God was already working connecting me to a girl whose family owned a diaper service washing millions of pounds of diapers every year. I married that girl and have been worshiping God as I serve new parents with washing dirty diapers for the past 28 years. Today is our 28th anniversary. God works in amazing ways. He will do different things for you but the same amazing provision.

Tim,

Thank you for your words of encouragement and your example. These two jobs are tough because of the physical strain. Since being a hired pastor is a fairly sedentary job, I've been feeling sore muscles lately. This is probably a good thing.
