We English speakers have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to bible translations. I part because of this, we often struggle to know which version or versions to use. Dan Wallace offers
some helpful advice on this topic. I encourage you to read it.
Personally, I like to have a copy of the ESV and the NJKV close at hand. However, I also enjoy reading the KJV, NASB, ISV, NLT, NIV, and several others. I'm not a big fan of the looser translations and paraphrases such as The Message.
