Homeschoolers Succeeding in College

According to a new research study, homeschoolers are doing very well in college. I'm not surprised by this, but it is nice to see some data in black-and-white. To look at the study yourself, click here.

We have one on the dean's list, and some of his professors have pulled him aside and basically said, "What's different about you?". I'm sure some of that comes from his faith in Jesus, and I believe some of it is due to the fact that he has had to learn how to learn. In High School, parents cannot be the expert teacher in every subject, so they have to "feed themselves".

Jeff,

I agree that independence in learning is a key. Related to that, I think the high amount of reading that homeschoolers generally do is a great help in college and later.

ok a bit off topic but... I saw a funny bumper sticker; it read "I support public schools, I don't have a choice" I liked it.

Jessica,

That's a funny one - and sad too.

On a related note, I'm surprised by the number of mothers who have themselves convinced that they could never homeschool their own children. I wish they realized that they are God's best choice to teach their own kids.
